Location

Now it’s time to plan the Ultimate Child Theme Party, but where do you have it? There are so many options and picking the “right” one can be very difficult for some people. Just remember, as long as your child’s family and friends are there, the location really doesn’t matter to them. So pick somewhere that is convenient and easy for you to setup and clean up in a minimal amount of time. So keep reading for the Ultimate Kid Party Ideas.

* Pirate's Home: Now what does a Pirate's home really look like? Do you even know any pirate's in your neighborhood? Well, I don't think anyone has to been to an actual Pirate's home, but we could transform your home into a "Pirate's" home. This is actually going to be easier than you probably think. If you follow the ideas on this site, as far as, the decorations, party tableware, food, cake, etc...your child isn't even going to recognize their home. You will give your child and his friends a party to remember. So enough talk, let's get started. So first, I would suggest checking out our selection of Clip Art and Coloring Pages. You will find so much information and pictures you won't be able to use it all!!! Now what are the benefits of having a party at your home? You might be thinking NO WAY!!! But wait, first I know you won’t forget any crucial party items at your home (e.g. piñata bat). Second, that reservation won’t get screwed up…because you are already there! Finally, you know where everything is, how convenient. Now don’t get me wrong, you do run the risk of damage and such, so be sure to weigh the benefits and risks and pick what’s best for you!

* Pirate's Cove: One of the ultimate pirate birthday party location is the local park. Start by making a list of all the local parks/water parks in the area and write down the key features of each one. For example, how much area is available? is there a playground? trash can availability? Bathrooms? covered areas? Capacity of park? etc. You don’t want to show up at an overcrowded park, with no playground or bathrooms and it starts to rain. Spend some time in selecting the right park and I guarantee your party will run a lot smoother. You will still be able to use a lot of the decorating ideas from this site, so don't stop here...keep reading!

* Pirate Ship: How about sailing off from your home and into a rented party establishment? Why would you want to do that? Well, one great thing about renting an establishment is they sometimes provide you with invitations, discounts on food, a cake, etc. Make sure you find a decent place that provides you with enough stuff to balance out the rental cost. Don’t be afraid to ask for food discounts and other items, you will be surprised on what they will offer, but only if you ask!

Invitations

Picking out or designing the Ultimate pirate birthday party invitation can either be a fun or challenging part of the party. It all depends on how much time you have, what type of planning you want to do and how much thought you put in to it. I want to help “you” create the Ultimate pirate birthday party invitation that will represent your party theme perfectly and impress your party guests. How? Well, I have listed a few ideas to get your creativity juices flowing. Take these ideas, as is, or alter them to fit “your” taste. I am sure with the ideas listed below you will be able to create the Ultimate Party Invitation!!! Enjoy…

* Store/Internet Bought: If you are reading this idea, it might be because you don't have enough time to create an Ultimate Invitation. Or maybe you just like store bought invitations better. It doesn’t really matter because I have found a couple of great pirate birthday party invitations you can choose from that will fit your party theme perfectly. Pirate Loot Invitation or Pirate Party Invitation.

* Invitation Help: As you start to create this pirate birthday party invitation masterpiece, don't forget to check out the Pirate clip art for lots of different pictures. They will help you design the inside and out. Good Luck!

* Party Slogan: Before we get into the designing process, why don’t you pick out a party slogan? Pick something that your party will be developed around. Here are a few ideas to help you:

1. "Shiver me Timbers!"..."child's name" is turning "age"

2. "Child's name" Peg Leg Party!

3. "Yo Ho, Yo Ho...A Pirate Party for Me!"

Before we get started, I have listed a few ideas on the design of the invitation and then I will give ideas on what to say inside.

* Pirate Birthday Party Invitation #1: Use some resume paper and print the invitation using pirate language.  Then use a lighter and burn the edges.  Next, roll the invitations and place them in a bottle for delivery (IBC Rootbeer bottles are perfect). On the front of the invitation you could put a picture of your child and some different pirate clip art.

* Pirate Birthday Party Invitation #2: Create this invitation using coffee soaked paper. On the front of the invitation put a picture of your child in their best pirate gear. On the back, draw a pirate map which contains actual landmarks near your home.

* Pirate Birthday Party Invitation #3: Start this pirate birthday party invitation designing a pirate flag (black paper pasted around a dowel with a skull and crossbones cut out on the front). Next, make a "treasure map" from parchment art paper. The map will show your address. Burn the edges of the treasure map (after wetting the edges) to make it look a bit more weathered. Finally, glue the flag onto the back of the treasure map.

* Here is a list of pirate birthday party verses you could include in your party invitations *

Decorations

Picking out, setting up and fine tuning the decorations can be a long tedious process. But, there is hope, because with a little planning and creativity, it will be one of the most rewarding experiences of the party. I have compiled kid party ideas that start with the outside decorations and finishes with the inside decorations. You can use all, some or none of the ideas, but no matter which kid party ideas you choose, they will help you turn your party location into the Ultimate Party Location.

First, let's start with the outdoor decorations:

Attach a bouquet of helium filled balloons to a light post or mailbox so there will be no mistaking where the fun will be that day!

Here is a great pirate birthday party idea for a 5 foot skeleton pirate. Start by locating a skeleton head from the internet and adjusting it to the appropriate size. Next glue him onto a piece cardboard and tape him to a coat hanger. The hanger will hold a red pirate coat. Next you need to make the skeleton of the pirate. But, you only need to make the parts of the skeleton that show: his ribs, part of his lower arms & hands; legs from the knee down (have him wear pirate pants to the knee) and put black Hook-like shoe covers on the bottom. Finally make a ship steering wheel from cardboard, which turns, and prop his hands on it to make it look like he is steering the ship.

Hang a sign at the entrance that either says your party slogan you have picked or "If ye be pirates, ye can enter...at yer own risk".

Make sure all areas, but in and out, have antiqued signs saying what the activity is, for example, one could say, "ye can craft & eat here".

Put some shiny pennies (soak pennies in vinegar and salt) and gold chocolate covered coins outside the front door.

Put a skeleton on the front door and sign reading, "Pirates only beyond this point".

At the end of your driveway or walkway have a sign that reads, "Beware...Enter at yer own risk" and put a skull and crossbones on it.

Now, let’s move inside the party location and decorate…

Let’s start with the simple decorating. Tie helium balloons of different shades of green, red, yellow, purple, black or white in clusters of 3 or 5 to the back of chairs or tucked into corners. Don't forget to tie a bunch of balloons to the birthday child’s chair. If you choose not to use helium, tie balloons to varying lengths of curling ribbon, and hang them from the ceiling or from light fixtures throughout the house.

A great Pirate Birthday Party Idea is to have this inflatable parrot and jointed palm tree around the party area.

Next, let’s move on to another simple, yet familiar decorating item, Streamers. Streamers offer an economical way to splash lots of color around the site of the party. Create a fun and colorful effect by draping rainbow colored metallic streamers from the center of the ceiling to the walls on each side of the room. The streamers can be twisted after they are anchored to a ceiling wall or table for a more dimensional look. Two different colored streamers can be placed back to back and twisted for a unique look. After you are done, it should look like a spiral rainbow above the room! They also look terrific hanging from doorframes or cascading vertically down walls. Streamers is an excellent Pirate Birthday Party decoration.

Don't forget to get a birthday banner to let everyone know who's birthday it is.

Every pirate worth the peg leg he stands upon needs a Skull & Bones Flag to fly above the treasure he's about to claim.

Cover a floor or party area with Dark Blue Water Gossamer and 5” clear balloon water bubbles, for an authentic high seas feeling.

When the children are entering the party and playing games, play the Pirates of the Caribbean CD. The children will definentely get in the mood.

Another great idea is to print out some great pictures from our Pirate Clip Art Page. Have them laminated and place them around the party area.

Now what are you going to use for the picture backdrop? You can either make a pirate ship out of a cardboard box or check out this great Pirate Ship.

Need some more decorations? Here are two great cutouts for the walls or tables: Pirate or Pirate Ship.

Decorate the walls with black and red streamers and a large black cloth with white skull and crossbones. Also string up alternating cutouts of black anchors and yellow swords (made out of bristol board) along one wall and in the doorways.

Party Tableware

The colors of the party should be pretty simple. I would stick with black, white, red, orange or yellow. After you have selected the party theme colors, decide on whether you will use either printed or solid color party tableware.

Here is a great selection of Pirate Birthday Party ideas for tableware:

* Pirate Dessert Plate
* Pirate Dinner Plate
* Pirate Luncheon Napkins
* Pirate Beverage Napkins
* Pirate Birthday Cups
* Pirate Blowouts
* Pirate Party Hats
* Pirate Centerpiece
* Pirate Tablecover

Going solo on your party theme? Can’t find any party theme tableware you like? Then take a look at the silverware, plates, napkins, etc in solid colors. You’re guaranteed to find a color that matches your theme.

Ice Breaker Activities

Let those who’ve arrived early play with Bubbles while they wait for the other guests to arrive.

Don’t forget to check out the great collection of coloring pages I have compiled. A coloring activity is a great way to keep the children occupied until the party starts. Plus, you can send them home in their goody bag.

A simple game of Bones, Bones, Skull (i.e. duck, duck, goose) is a great ice breaker activity. You can keep adding children to the circle after they arrive. I have yet to find a child who doesn't like this game, it’s a classic!!!

Freeze Dance is another great game to get kids acquainted. The game doesn't require a certain number of kids, so they can join in as they arrive. Play the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack as the kids dance. If you stop the music, they must freeze. If they don’t freeze, they are out. The game restarts after all the children have been eliminated except one. Kids love to dance and play games, which makes this an Ultimate Pirate Birthday Party Ice Breaker Activity.

Have the children decorate a large birthday banner in honor of your child that says, “Happy Birthday, Name”. You can get a large roll of paper from a store like Target. Give the children crayons, stickers, and other such items to use.

Story time with puppet show: Make the puppets by printing characters off websites & laminating.  Attach to Popsicle sticks.

As each child arrives, have them reach in a zip lock bag and select a "pirate name" for themselves. Some examples are: Scarface Chase, One-eyed Andrew, Cutlass Katie, Matt the Black, Brian Bones, etc.

Another great Pirate Birthday Party activity is to make Oceans in a bottle. On the table place 1/2 filled water bottles, food coloring, sand, shells and small fish cutouts.  Each child begins by selecting the color of their ocean. Next they are able to personalize it by adding the fish, shells and sand, if they want.

Pirate Birthday Party Ideas for Cake:

Deciding on whether you are going to make or buy the Ultimate cake is a tough decision. It mainly depends on how much time you have and how many guests are coming. I would suggest for a smaller party, you try and make that Ultimate cake. But if there is going to be a large number of guests, maybe a large cake made by the baker would be the best decision. It’s up to you, but here are some Pirate Birthday Party Ideas for making an Ultimate Pirate cake.

Create-your-own Cake: Here is a great way to personalize the cake yourself. Start by making a basic cake, but add some of these cake toppers. They will really add something to the cake!
