We decided to make our own invitation so we could be more personable. I started by using a thick cardstock to make the card. On the front, I put Astroturf for grass. I used a tooth pick and construction paper to make a flag next to the hole. I put a golf ball sticker right next to the hole. On the inside I wrote, “Steven would like to invite you to his indoor mini golf birthday party! The party will be held at “address” on “date” and “time”. To RSVP, call “phone” before “date”. I will give you everything you need, but you can bring your own putter if you want!

I will try to share with you how to make the holes I used in this section. The games section will include any rules for each particular hole. I only had enough room to make 10 holes, but would have loved to make the whole 18. I made the golf club out of cardboard that was taped with silver tape to resemble the metal. We did use real golf balls though. I used a funnel for each hole, taped to the ground and the golfers had to hit the ball into the hole in the funnel. I used all kinds of things around the house for obstacles. I moved the furniture to make them go around large objects. I place paper plates, cups and anything else I could find to get in their way. I put together a few obstacles our of cardboard. For example, I put together 4 cardboard triangles with holes in the bottom for a pyramid, made tunnels by using paper towel rolls, slides by cutting paper towel rolls in half and made a forest out of paper towel rolls and green construction paper. I also made score cards to keep score.

Food: We ordered my son’s favorite food, Pizza! But I also had a few other items on hand, chips, soda, cookies, etc.
Cake: I made a large sheet cake with green frosting. I also used frosting to make a hole, flag and a golf ball. I used gum balls to make the trees on the hole. I used graham crackers smashed up to represent a sand trap. It looked pretty good.

I took green cellophane to make each bag for the golfers. In the bottom of the bag was some leftover grass I had from the prior Easter. I put a free coupon to the local mini golf place, a bag of tees and a few golf balls. The children loved these items!

Before they started playing their first round of golf, I shared with them a few rules. They were pretty generic rules, nothing to strict. Each child was given one golf ball and golf club. I kept their score during the whole round. The child with the lowest score one a nice golf set, which included a golf ball, tees and other miscellaneous items. They had such a great time; they wanted to play one more time, so I let them.
