Location

Now it’s time to plan the Ultimate Child Theme Party, but where do you have it? There are so many options and picking the “right” one can be very difficult for some people. Just remember, as long as your child’s family and friends are there, the location really doesn’t matter to them. So pick somewhere that is convenient and easy for you to setup and clean up in a minimal amount of time. Now keep reading for the Ultimate Birthday Party Theme Ideas.

* (Child's Name) Grand Prix: There is nothing better than having a racing birthday party theme at a "real" raceway, but that is not always possible. What would your child think if you brought the races to his home? I bet their response will be "WOW"!!! Now, decorating your house to look like a raceway is not as hard as it sounds. With some decorating tips and ideas, you'll be on your way to transforming your home into the Ultimate Raceway. If you follow the ideas on this site, as far as, the decorations, party tableware, food, cake, etc...your child isn't even going to recognize their home. You'll end up giving your child and his friends a party to remember. So enough talk, let's get started. So first, I would suggest checking out our selection of Clip Art and Coloring Pages. You will find so much information and pictures you won't be able to use it all!!! Now what are the benefits of having a party at your home? You might be thinking NO WAY!!! But wait, first I know you won’t forget any crucial party items at your home (e.g. piñata bat). Second, that reservation won’t get screwed up…because you are already there! Finally, you know where everything is, how convenient. Now don’t get me wrong, you do run the risk of damage and such, so be sure to weigh the benefits and risks and pick what’s best for you!

* "Child's Name" Race Park: An excellent Birthday Party Theme Location is the local park. Now it doesn't necessarily need to be at the "park", you could use a tennis court, water park or any other area at a normal park. Start by making a list of all the local parks/water parks in the area and write down the key features of each one. For example, how much area is available? is there a playground? tennis court? trash can availability? bathrooms? covered areas? capacity of park? etc. You don’t want to show up at an overcrowded park, with no playground or bathrooms and it starts to rain. Spend some time in selecting the right park and I guarantee your party will run a lot smoother. Don't worry, you'll still be able to use a lot of the decorating ideas from this site, so don't stop here...keep reading!

* "Child's Name" Traveling Raceway: How about racing all your guests down to a local rented party establishment? Why would you want to do that? Well, one great thing about renting an establishment is they sometimes provide you with invitations, discounts on food, a cake, etc. Make sure you find a decent place that provides you with enough stuff to balance out the rental cost. Don’t be afraid to ask for food discounts and other items, you will be surprised on what they will offer, but only if you ask!

Invitations

It all depends on how much time you have, what type of planning you want to do and how much thought you put in to it. I want to help “you” create the Ultimate Racing Birthday Party Theme invitation that will represent your party theme perfectly and impress your party guests. How? Well, I have listed a few ideas to get your creativity juices flowing. Take these ideas, as is, or alter them to fit “your” taste. I am sure with the ideas listed below you will be able to create the Ultimate Party Invitation!!! Enjoy…

* Store/Internet Bought: If you are reading this idea, it might be because you don't have enough time to create an Ultimate Invitation. Or maybe you just like store bought invitations better. It doesn’t really matter because I have found a couple of great racing birthday party invitations you can choose from that will fit your party theme perfectly. Victory Lane Invitation or High Performance Hot Wheels Invitation.

* Invitation Help: As you start to create this racing birthday party theme invitation masterpiece, don't forget to check out the Racing clip art for lots of different pictures. They will help you design the inside and out. Good Luck!

* Party Slogan: Before we get into the designing process, why don’t you pick out a party slogan? Pick something that your party will be developed around. Here are a few ideas to help you:

1. "Start your engines for birthday fun! "

2. "Pit Stop Party"

3. "Child's Name Speedway Spectacular "

Before we get started, I have listed a few ideas on the design of the invitation and then I will give ideas on what to say inside.

* Racing Birthday Party Theme Invitation #1: Use small black & white checkered flags purchased from the dollar store or local party store. Print the party info onto a small piece of paper, glue it to one side of the flag, roll it up and hand deliver to each child.

* Racing Birthday Party Theme Invitation #2: On your computer, design a simple invitation with racing flags in the corners. You can find racing flags online or at our clip art page. Insert a picture of your child, driving a little race car or bicycle, wearing their helmet, in the middle of the invitation.

* Racing Birthday Party Theme Invitation #3: Start by purchasing white cardstock from your local store. Next, cut a piece of cardstock in half and cut out a winding road out of black construction paper and glue it on. Use a paint pen to do the white dotted line of the road.  Finally, hot glue a hot wheels car on the "road".

* Here is a list of racing birthday party theme verses you could include in your party invitations *

Decorations

Picking out, setting up and fine tuning the decorations can be a long tedious process. But, there is hope, because with a little planning and creativity, it will be one of the most rewarding experiences of the party. I have compiled some birthday party theme ideas that start with the outside decorations and finishes with the inside decorations. You can use all, some or none of the ideas, but no matter which kid party ideas you choose, they will help you turn your party location into the Ultimate Party Location.

First, let's start with the outdoor decorations:

Attach a bouquet of helium filled balloons to a light post or mailbox so there will be no mistaking where the fun will be that day!

Now balloons might not be enough to identify this Ultimate Party Location. If you put these flying pennant and checkered flags in front of your house, the guests will surely know this is the Ultimate Racing Party Location!

Put signs up and down the street that read, "child's name" Speedway. Add an arrow that points in the direction of your house.

If you are having the party at a park or tennis court, make sure you rope off the party area with checkered flags.

Here is an easy way to make a great birthday banner. Use a white vinyl shower liner, 10" black vinyl letters (you can purchase these from an officer supply store) and a checkered plastic tablecloth. On the banner you can write something like, "child's name" Raceway.

Cover your front door with cheap black paper and use masking tape to divide the "road". Then tape race cars (printed from our clip art page) to the road.

Use black and white balloons and form an arch that will go in front of the entrance.

Now, let’s move inside the party location and decorate…

Let’s start with the simple decorating. Tie helium balloons of different shades of black, white, red, green, etc. in clusters of 3 or 5 to the back of chairs or tucked into corners. Don't forget to tie a bunch of balloons to the birthday child’s chair. If you choose not to use helium, tie balloons to varying lengths of curling ribbon, and hang them from the ceiling or from light fixtures throughout the house.

Let's start with a simple picture backdrop. What better than a racing car for the children to enjoy.

Next, let’s move on to another simple, yet familiar decorating item, Streamers. Streamers offer an economical way to splash lots of color around the site of the party. Create a fun and colorful effect by draping rainbow colored metallic streamers from the center of the ceiling to the walls on each side of the room. The streamers can be twisted after they are anchored to a ceiling wall or table for a more dimensional look. Two different colored streamers can be placed back to back and twisted for a unique look. After you are done, it should look like a spiral rainbow above the room! They also look terrific hanging from doorframes or cascading vertically down walls. Streamers are an excellent Racing Birthday Party Theme decoration.

One 4’ X 50’ roll of black Solid Color Flat Paper will go a long way in your decorating.  The paper can be laid on the ground, and the kids can get creative in making different track configurations to zoom around.  Give them some white poster paint and brushes, and they can add lines to the track.

How about a traffic light for your wall or above the party table? It adds a wonderful effect to your Racing Birthday Party Theme.

As the children arrive to the party have each child register for the "child's name" Grand Prix. Have a table located by the entrance with a sign that reads, "Drivers Register Here." Put on the table a clipboard with a page with two columns (Driver's Name, Sponsor's Phone #). This way you have a way to contact the parents if they are not planning on staying for the party.

How about offering each child a driver's license as they arrive at the party. There are a couple of ways you could accomplish this. First, download your state symbol from the internet. Next, if you have access to a picture of each guest, scan it in your computer. Finally, compile the graphic and picture using a simple word processing program. Print them out and laminate them. If you don't have access to a picture, include in the invitations that you need a picture. Then while the children are arriving you could quickly scan the picture and finish the driver's licenses. The children will love these!

Give each child one of these great racing helmets. Not only can they wear it during the party, it makes a great party favor also!

A great decoration for any fences or walls is to paint flat cardboard race cars. Then simply hang them up where ever you want!

You can't forget to put out all your child's hot wheels cars. You can use these as decorations or for the children to play with. The more the better!

If you are having the party outside, check with your local recycled tire store and place them in a large circle to form a track. Not only is this a great birthday party theme decoration, but you could also use the track as part of your games.

Make traffic signs out of cardboard and place them around the party area. Make stop signs, speed limits and one way signs.

If you have a large tent, set it up and name it the hospitality tent. You can serve all the food and drinks from here.

Make collages of dirt bikers, motorcycle riders, jet skiers, etc cutting photos from magazines. Put the pictures on poster board and place them around the party area.

Party Tableware

The colors of the party should be pretty simple. I would stick with black, white, red, green, orange or yellow. After you have selected the party theme colors, decide on whether you will use either printed or solid color party tableware.

Here is a great selection of Racing Birthday Party Theme tableware:

* Hot Wheels Dessert Plate
* Hot Wheels Dinner Plate
* Hot Wheels Luncheon Napkins
* Hot Wheels Beverage Napkins
* Hot Wheels Birthday Cups
* Hot Wheels Blowouts
* Hot Wheels Party Hats
* Hot Wheels Centerpiece
* Hot Wheels Tablecover
* Hot Wheels Confetti

Going solo on your party theme? Can’t find any party theme tableware you like? Then take a look at the silverware, plates, napkins, etc in solid colors. You’re guaranteed to find a color that matches your birthday party theme.

Ice Breaker Activities

Let those who’ve arrived early play with Bubbles while they wait for the other guests to arrive.

Don’t forget to check out the great collection of coloring pages I have compiled. A coloring activity is a great way to keep the children occupied until the party starts. Plus, you can send them home in their goody bag.

A simple game of Race, Race, Car (i.e. duck, duck, goose) is a great ice breaker activity. You can keep adding children to the circle after they arrive. I have yet to find a child who doesn't like this game, it’s a classic!!!

Freeze Dance is another great game to get kids acquainted. The game doesn't require a certain number of kids, so they can join in as they arrive. Play some music as the kids dance. If you stop the music, they must freeze. If they don’t freeze, they are out. The game restarts after all the children have been eliminated except one. Kids love to dance and play games, which makes this an Ultimate Racing Birthday Party Theme Ice Breaker Activity.

Have the children decorate a large birthday banner in honor of your child that says, “Happy Birthday, Name”. You can get a large roll of paper from a store like Target. Give the children crayons, stickers, and other such items to use.

Story time with puppet show: Make the puppets by printing characters off web sites& laminating.  Attach to Popsicle sticks.

As each child arrives, have them reach in a zip lock bag and select a "racing name" for themselves. Some examples are: Tire Man, Mechanic, Gas Man, Miss Pocono, Crew Chief, etc.

Racing Birthday Party Theme Ideas for Cake:

Deciding on whether you are going to make or buy the Ultimate cake is a tough decision. It mainly depends on how much time you have and how many guests are coming. I would suggest for a smaller party, you try and make that Ultimate cake. But if there is going to be a large number of guests, maybe a large cake made by the baker would be the best decision. It’s up to you, but here are some Racing Birthday Party Theme Ideas for making an Ultimate Racing cake.

Figure 8 Cake: Place two round cakes next to each other. Ice it with white icing and use crushed oreos as the track. The lines in the road are made using just the white Good n' Plenty candies.  Put several toy cars on the track and find racecar themed candles.  Cut strips from a black & white checkered plastic tablecloth and stick it to the icing on the sides of the cake.

Check out racecakes.com for a lot of great racing cake ideas.
