Invitations

Our invitations were large homemade strawberries (2 paper strawberries tied together at the top with green tulle? I used several pieces of tulle to look like a strawberry stem).  I used cut outs from some old Valentine cards of Strawberry Shortcake and we glued these onto the front strawberry and wrote with green glue: Come relax and prepare for Kindergarten at Strawberry's Day Spa. Inside:  Come spend an afternoon at Strawberry's Day Spa (our address) as we celebrate her 5th Birthday.  Your appointment is reserved for: DATE and TIME. Moms are invited but not required to attend.  A gift certificate is enclosed.   The gift certificate (which we placed in a separate pink envelope) read:  This certificate entitles the bearer to: 1 strawberry parfait facial, 1 manicure, 1 spa pedicure, 1 hairstyle complete with complimentary berry bow, and 1 makeover (strawberry painted on cheek and body glitter on eyes and lips). Relax for 10 minutes in our massage chair as you watch your favorite Strawberry Shortcake DVD Enjoy clean mountain air as you experience our ultimate tea party and spa lunch which include: Orange fruit kabobs and raspberry dip, tropical finger sandwiches, peppermint fizz smoothies, and chocolate dipped strawberries served on a bed of angel cake Prepare for kindergarten as our spa specialists take all your worries away If you are unable to attend your appointment or have any allergy concerns, please RSVP your regrets to (Your Name).

Decorations

We used 4 yards each of hot pink, green, and pale pink tulle to drape our home with garlands of color (we cut each piece of tulle into 5 strips lengthwise so we ended up with 60 yards total).  We blew up a lot of pink balloons (again we created green tulle stems) and hung them everywhere to look like huge strawberries. Christmas lights added to the spa effect.  Before the party, I burned strawberry candles to make our whole house smell like our theme.

Food

Food: I just placed the food on a table (decorated with SSC theme plates etc). I included a pink pitcher of strawberry lemonade and all of the finger foods mentioned in the gift certificate. The tropical sandwiches were open faced bread cut in the shape of a strawberry spread with jam. I sprinkled each sandwich with mini chocolate chips and used a kiwi slice as the stem so that the tiny sandwiches looked like strawberries. The peppermint fizz smoothies were sprite with red and clear ice cubes and a couple drops of peppermint extract.  The girls served themselves.

Cake: At the end I brought out a SSC cake I had made.

Party Favors

I sent each guest home with a SSC gift bag that contained lip gloss in the shape of a strawberry (Walmart, less than a dollar each), the leis, the sunglasses, and some strawberry fruit snacks.

Games and Activities

As each girl arrived she was sent to a station. On the front porch my sister did pedicures (each guest soaked her feet in our home foot spa for a few minutes) and then my sister painted her nails in a strawberry design.  (French manicure, green tips, red nails, and little black dots). The same was done to the fingernails at our manicure station.  In the living room, my mom did makeovers (painted a berry on each cheek and then added body glitter to the eyelids and lips). We own a massage chair pad and we covered it with a pink blanket and a Strawberry Shortcake pillow from my daughter's room). The girls sat in this and watched the SSC DVDs.  . During all of this, I came in carrying platters with little appetizers on them and served them to the girls to enhance the pampered feel. My other sister did a hairstyle station (she just pulled their hair into ponytails using SSC ponytail holders we bought at our local party store). We had 6 little girls attend and when they weren't at a station they just watched the movie or looked in the mirror we had set up for them. Finally we finished all of this. We gave the girl's red leis and SSC sunglasses (purchased at Wal-Mart). We went outside and took group and individual pictures. After we were through will all of this we stayed outside for our tea party.
