Invitations

I started out the party by sending out “Frog” themed invitations. I cut out lily pads from green construction paper and wrote “Hop on over to Sam’s Pad four it’s a Party!” I included a few small frog items, like, a small foam frog with a magnet on the back. I put the child’s name on the magnet. I was hoping to get the children excited about the party before it began. The parents told me later the children loved the invitations and little gifts.

Decorations

I wanted to capture a Rainforest atmosphere, but didn’t really know where to start. But after thinking about it for awhile, I got started. I used artificial trees, grape vines, camouflage, green sheets and anything else green we could find in the house. It actually looked pretty good after we were done. I then placed big frogs, little frogs, tiny frogs or any other frog we owned on everything. The tool cabinet, tables, ground, rafters, etc…I decorated the tables with green table cloths, green silverware, green cups and frogs everywhere.

Ice Breaker Activities

I wanted the children to get excited about the party, but I didn’t want to lose control to early. So as the children arrived I had them color frog pictures printed right off the internet. It was a great starter activity.

Food

Cake: I am not a real creative person, so we opted to have the local bakery make our cake. It turned out fantastic. It was a 3-D frog!!!

Food: To stick with the theme, we chose frog foods. We served Frog legs (chicken fingers), gummy frogs, frog and fly gut sandwiches (Peanut Butter & Jelly), flies on a log and goldfish. I served the children their choice of drink in a frog sipper cup

Party Favors

For the party favor bags, I found some nice green lunch sacks at Wal-Mart. I decorated them with frog stickers and other items. The children got to put the items I have already mentioned above in the sack along with: candy filled frog, foam frog visor, beanie frogs and a couple of other frog themed items.

Games and Activities

We chose to play 3 games during the party. The first game was called musical toad stools. I would play some frog music while the children went in a circle marching in a circle around lily pads. When the music stopped, the children had to sit on the nearest lily pad. The child who didn’t find a seat, was out until the next game started. The second game was called catch the frog. I put a lot of plastic frogs in our kiddy pool and had the children use a fish net to try and retrieve as many as they could in 2 minutes. Our last activity was a frog hunt. I took the children to the local pond down our street and we looked for frogs. Fortunately they were everywhere, so that was hard at all. The children had a great time with all the activities.
